Communicating Diverse Viewpoints within U.S. Public Music Education- Perspectives from a Participating Outsider
As an Irish traditional musician participating in the institution of American music education, I find myself consistently and actively engaged in attempts to bridge the gap between diverse understandings. In this presentation, I draw from Scollon and Scollon’s (2004) nexus analyses approach to examine the histories, interaction, and discourse affecting my experience in music education as situated within an environment of institutional change.
